After just 3 years, China has launched it’s first natively designed aircraft carrier, the Type 001A AKA “Shandong”. It is a conventionally powered STOBAR system displacing around 70,000 tons. Sea trials, training, etc will take another 1-2 years before the vessel is commissioned [in active service].
