Maybe it’s just me but I notice traditional East Asian architecture tends to blend into its environment - almost like it seeks harmony. It’s a sharp contrast to Western architecture that seeks to impose itself on the landscape and remove the natural environment eg castles, cathedrals, etc.

I think perhaps because of our Taoist influence, we prefer to “go with the flow”, so to speak. Either that or we’re just very laid-back people, lol.
