Philippines Strongman, Rodrigo Duterte, is a boss

Curb stomping drug trafficking.
It feels great to see a strongman do what’s needed to save his country. I hope not too many innocents get caught in the fire, but drastic times call for drastic measures.
Which Asian leaders do you admire and why?
MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte early Sunday read a long list of names of personalities who are allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade.
In his speech during his visit at the Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao, Duterte named magistrates, local executives, retired and active police officers, whom he claimed are involved in illegal drugs. He said the names on the list , which he said includes some friends, have been validated by the police and military. He said, however, that the allegations might not be true.
Duterte said he is the only president who has named politicians and government officials allegedly involved in drugs because he feels the need to tell the truth to his countrymen.
“Sa ating buhay dito sa Pilipinas, ako po ay kaisa-isang presidente na gumagawa nito, alam mo bakit? Kailangan malaman ng tao kung ano’ng nangyayari sa bayan. It’s very important for the people to know mistakes or things or conditions in this country. That is my sworn duty,” Duterte said.
“Hindi ninyo ako mapigilan and I am not afraid. Sabihin ninyo na makulong ako? Fine… Wala akong honor na habulin sa buhay ko presidente na ako…Trabaho ko is to take care of the Filipino, period,” he said, adding he wants to end the “pandemic” drug problem that he described as “spreading like wildfire.”[click the white box to expand the rest of the post]

Moving away from American imperialists.
Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has reiterated his intention to distance his country from the US, its former colonial master, saying he is about to pass “the point of no return” with the US.
“I am about to cross the Rubicon between me and the US,” the controversial Pacific leader told reporters, without elaborating.
Duterte reiterated that the Philippines would seek closer ties with Russia and China, the two nations that challenged American ambition for global leadership. But, he added, the ties with the US would not be broken completely, only driven to a point that would allow Manila to have an independent policy.
“I am ready to not really break [US] ties but we will open alliances with China and… [Dmitry] Medvedev, he is waiting there [in Russia] for my visit,” Duterte said, referring to the Russian prime minister.
The remarks came just as the Philippines and the US prepare to hold joint naval exercises in October. Such drills have over the years served to cemented the military alliance between the two countries.

Duterte earlier said he would seek a termination of the treaty which allows US soldiers to maintain a presence in his country’s south. He also said he would buy weapons from Russia and China to decrease reliance on America in defense matters, and that Manila would not participate in a maritime conflict were it to be initiated by Washington, despite a 1951 treaty requiring it to do so.Duterte ‘about to cross the Rubicon’ with US, wants alliances with Russia & China — RT News:
