The percentage of women holding top executive positions in China has risen to 30 percent, a 5 percent increase from last year and higher than the global average of 24 percent, according to a newly released report.

The increase places China in 12th spot among 36 major economies in terms of female business leadership, CCSTOCK.CN reported.

The international business investigation report, released by Chinese accounting firm Grant Thornton, also showed that the percentage of Chinese firms without female executives stands at just 16 percent. The global average is currently 33 percent.

Yahoo News reported on February 29 that nearly a quarter of all new Chinese billionaires in 2015 were women.
